The Wild Africa Film Festival takes you into the field with some hand-picked tours that showcase the area and allow you to engage with local communities while learning about sustainable tourism practices.
These field trips are operated by Red Rocks Rwanda, an Ecotours company and a social enterprise promoting sustainable tourism through community and conservation programs. Red Rocks Rwanda brings under-served communities into the tourism supply chain and supports community development projects that help people help themselves through Red Rocks Initiatives.
Hiking Rugarika & School Visit

Hike up Rugarika mountain for 45 minutes which offers stunning views of the volcanic chain of mountains that make up Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, you will learn about the importance of eco-tourism and sustainable practices in the area from your Red Rocks Guide. At the top of the mountain, you will visit a local school and have the opportunity to engage with students.

Departing from Red Rocks in Musunze, take an easy hike up Rugarika mountain for 45 minutes which offers stunning views of the volcanic chain of mountains that make up Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, you will learn about the importance of eco-tourism and sustainable practices in the area from your Red Rocks Guide. At the top of the mountain, you will visit a local school and have the opportunity to engage with students. This trip gives you the chance to enhance your knowledge of local ecosystems, flora, and fauna and understand the role of communities in preserving natural resources. Mukungwa River Ecotourism Adventure

Mukungwa is a river that gets its origin from the twin lakes (Burera and Ruhondo) in the northern province of Rwanda. The terrain here is composed of open farmlands and small forests in the mountains around. and learn about the rich biodiversity and sustainable practices along the banks of the river.
